5th ODI: Pakistan beat Black Caps by 41 runs

Ahmad Shehzad hit his first ODI hundred to help Pakistan cricket team to a 41-run victory over Black Caps in the fifth ODI, getting glory in the six-match sequence.

Ahmad Shehzad made 115 runs from 104 balls as Pakistan team created 268 runs for 9 wickets in its 50 overs after being sent in to batting on the sluggish pitch.
Black Caps’s stand-in skipper Ross Taylor top-scored for NZ innings with 69 and Guptill scored 65 as Black Caps team all out for 227 in 46.5 overs in a bungled score follow.
Pakistan team has an unequalled 3-1 lead with a single ODI to play.

Akshay upset about Deepika’s decision?

B-town celebs Akshay and Deepika were solid buddies once. They acted collectively in Houseful in spite of the failing of their very first movie CCTC. But the most recent we find out is that they aren’t buddies any more.Akki and Deepika were expected to work jointly in Housefull sequel , a follow up to their success film Housefull.
However, Deepika decided out of the film after getting a proposal to work along with Rajinikanth in the movie named Rana. This change is reported to have angry her once good friend Akshay Kumar. However celebrities still get together well. Obviously, Actress’s selection would problems film maker in discovering yet another celebrity to adopt her position.
Well, Akki must realize Deepika’s choice simply because any actress desires of working along with Rajinikanth.

Salman Khan dislikes Bollywood

Bollwood hunk Salman Khan, as we well understand, is a person of powerful wants and disfavors. And once he is got it in for somebody or some thing, there is no modifying his thoughts. So what is the most recent to have got the celebrity riled up? Well, it is Bollywood!
Salman Khan submitted on his Twitter web page, “Hate this bloody title, Bollywood, koi naam hai kya? Disgusting.”
Salman Khan included later on, “Hollywood se yeh naam Bollywood nikla , this is not the naming of our sector. Will not know whr this particular silly name has cm from n got trapped.”
“1 of the very first movie making was known as bombay talkie’s so name it that or mumbai talkies… Or indian theatre, name it any thing but nt boll..”
Well, so we now have Khan who is became a member of industry individuals who do not prefer the title Bollywood. Real question is, what will actor do relating to this? Understanding him, he could only modify the title!
Salman Khan even identified a title that he favored later. “Jst got a super tweet stating that it shld b caled hi fi which appears from indian movie market. Awesome identify”

Make up and Bollywood actresses

Make up and Bollywood actresses have almost been simultaneous. When two actresses star in the same film, they often get insecure and want the best make up man for themselves. Almost all topmost actresses endorse some cosmetic brand or the other and religiously use them, no matter how much they declare that they hate make up.
Fact is that most actresses develop cold feet when asked not to use make up on screen and they give all sorts of excuses to back out from the film.Still, there have been actresses who have taken up the challenge of ditching make up on screen and have been appreciated for their natural looks. Here we list five actresses who did not don greasepaint in atleast in their one or two films.
There is no doubt that Aishwarya Rai is a natural beauty. People have complemented her about her looks since the day she joined the film industry. Fellow actress Priyanka Chopra once commented that while we, mortals were made in a day, god must have taken a vacation to make Aishwarya. This complement itself speaks about the magnitude of Aishwarya’s beauty.
Still, no filmmakers ever thought of showing her natural beauty to the world. When director Rituporno Ghosh was making Chokher Bali, he always had Aishwarya Rai in mind from the very beginning and that too without make up. As Aishwarya showed her translucent back in white saris without blouse and her natural complexion in the film, people could not stop raving about her once more.
Kareena Kapoor went without make up for a scene in Jab We Met. When director Imtiaz Ali instructed her that she will not be allowed to wear any make up, she naively said that she will go for a no make-up look. It was then that the director clarified that no amount of greasepaint will be put on her face.

Kareena, even without all that make-up looked fabulous in the scene and it was perfectly in sync with the mood of the character she was playing.

The glam doll Katrina Kaif plays the role of a tough, no non sense politician in her upcoming film’Rajneeti’.The look of her character has been styled accordingly. She is seen wearing cotton starched saris in the film and there is no single trace of make-up on her face.

It is said that Katrina has played her life’s biggest and toughest role in Rajneeti and this film will showcase her powerful acting skills which has not been explored that much in her earlier films.

Bubbly girl Ayesha Takia, in her film, or did not put any make-up. Even though the film was a commercial failure, critics appreciated it very much and Ayesha, too, got praises for her no makeup look and excellent acting.

Priyanka Chopra played the role of a middle class college girl in Kaminey and ditched the pancake for most scenes of the film. She was seen dressed in simple salwar kurtis and the hair too, had this messy look since Sweety, the character she played in the film could not afford to be glamorous. The film was a super hit and people could not stop talking about Kaminey.

Sehingga, lumrah bila tetangganya menganugrahi predikat Wanita Perkasa .
Selepas dicabut KB, sambung dia, proses kelahiran anak anaknya semakin tak terbentung. Kini 9 anak masih berusia balita. Sebagiannya lagi sudah berumah tangga, katanya.
Kini Mak Eros mengaku sangat menikmati dan berbahagia mengurusi belasan anak anaknya. Meski penghasilannya minim sekira Rp 10 rebu/hari, upah penjualan makanan rakyat seperti kolak pisang dan agar agar berkeliling kampung, namun tak membuatnya berkecil hati mengarungi kehidupan bersama anak anaknya.

Price hike modest, says Manmohan

Price hike modest, says Manmohan
Special Correspondent NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in an address to the nation on Wednesday, explained the circumstances under which the government effected the revision in the fuel prices.
“I know that the price increases we have had to announce today will not be popular, though they are only modest,” he said while noting that the Centre was taking a revenue hit of Rs.22,660 crore during the 10 months of the current fiscal.
To ensure that the burden on consumers is eased, Dr. Singh asked the States to reduce their local taxes and levies as well. “The Central government, oil companies and consumers are bearing a part of this immense burden. It is, therefore, incumbent on State governments, many of whom tax petroleum products substantially, to contribute to this national effort by suitably reducing state taxes and levies,” he said.
Nuclear energy With the nuclear deal still hanging fire owing to opposition from Left parties, Dr. Singh seized the opportunity to garner support for going in for nuclear energy.
“We cannot remain captive to uncertain markets and unsure sources of supply. We have to develop renewable sources of energy, including nuclear energy,” he said.
Reiterating the Hobson’s choice that the government was in, he said the Centre had reduced duties on petroleum products to the extent possible. But given its commitments for expenditure, levies on these items could not be completely eliminated. “Thus a rise in prices is inevitable.”

The Indian economy, he said, was largely self-sufficient in food, but was not blessed in a similar manner as far as oil was concerned.
“We are, therefore, vulnerable to global trends in oil crisis,” he said adding that in the past four years, crude prices had increased by over three times from $39 a barrel in May 2004 to $130 a barrel.
To save on fuel costs, Dr. Singh appealed to the people to conserve energy. “Be it petrol, kerosene, LPG, electricity or even water — let us learn to save and use efficiently.”

Fuel Price Hike UPA government

Fuel Price Hike

Few days ago, the UPA government, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, announced a steep hike in the fuel prices across the country.
Last night, I was discussing with two individuals who thought this increase was atrocious. I explained that this fuel hike was long overdue, that the prices of oil in the world are shooting up like crazy, and that almost every other country has already increased the prices, and that India had withheld this hike for quite long time. I told them it was inevitable – it had to be done some day. Those individuals expressed surprise and asked how come they don’t get to hear this from the TV and media. (I guess they were just watching the wrong channels).
TOI is Irresponsible
Next day, in the morning, I got to read THE HINDU and TIMES OF INDIA. While THE HINDU did mention that the prices of oil have been skyrocketing in the world market and hence has influenced the current hike, TOI has failed to mention even once that this price hike was due to those reasons.
It is the role of the media to educate its masses and present the facts. They could interpret the story in their own way if they want to, but to deliberately omit and hide some extremely important facts is almost like fabrication of a lie when done by a media agency which has such a wide circulation. In a democracy, media plays a great role and forms a pillar along with legislature, executive and judiciary. While TOI wants to enjoy all the fundamental rights, including posting one semi-nude picture everyday in its SPORTS section where most impressionable young ones usually turn to, it seems to shirk all its duties to present the facts. TOI is an extremely irresponsible media agency.
The TV channels are no less irresponsible. All you see is a bunch of young chest beating journalists trying desperately to thump themselves harder just to climb the corporate ladder. They always seem to pant as if they just ran a marathon.

Price of petroleum

The price of petroleum as quoted in news generally refers to the spot price per barrel (159 liters) of either WTI/light crude as traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for delivery at Cushing, Oklahoma, or of Brent as traded on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE, into which the International Petroleum Exchange has been incorporated) for delivery at Sullom Voe.

The price of a barrel of oil is highly dependent on both its grade, determined by factors such as its specific gravity or API and its sulphur content, and its location. The vast majority of oil is not traded on an exchange but on an over-the-counter basis.[citation needed] Other important benchmarks include Dubai, Tapis, and the OPEC basket. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) uses the imported refiner acquisition cost, the weighted average cost of all oil imported into the US, as its "world oil price".

The demand for oil is highly dependent on global macroeconomic conditions. According to the International Energy Agency, high oil prices generally have a large negative impact on the global economic growth.[1] Others[who?] argue that the run-up in oil prices over the past few years actually led to an acceleration in global growth. The huge surpluses built up by oil exporting countries were recycled through sovereign wealth funds and the banking system and (through the money multiplier) greatly increased investments in emerging markets and helped hold down interest rates in the U.S.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was formed to control the price of oil, and essentially worked as a cartel.[2]

Oil price has undergone a significant decrease since the record peak of US$145 it reached in July 2008. On December 23, 2008, WTI crude oil spot price fell to US$30.28 a barrel, the lowest since the financial crisis of 2007–2010 began, and traded at between US$35 a barrel and US$82 a barrel in 2009.[3]

[edit] Recent price history

Further information: 2000s energy crisis

A recent low point was reached in January 1999 of $17 (all prices are in US$ per barrel), after increased oil production from Iraq coincided with the Asian Financial Crisis, which reduced demand. Prices then increased rapidly, more than doubling by September 2000 to $35, then fell until the end of 2001 before steadily increasing, reaching $40–50 by September 2004.[4] In October 2004, light crude futures contracts on the NYMEX for November delivery exceeded $53 and for December delivery exceeded $55. Crude oil prices surged to a record high above $60 in June 2005, sustaining a rally built on strong demand for gasoline and diesel and on concerns about refiners' ability to keep up. This trend continued into early August 2005, as NYMEX crude oil futures contracts surged past $65 as consumers kept up the demand for gasoline despite its high price. Crude oil futures peaked at a close of over $77 in July 2006, and in December 2006 at about $63. That is just about where they began the year 2006.[5] In September 2007, US crude (WTI) crossed $80. Multiple factors caused this high price. OPEC announced an output increase lower than expected.[6] US stocks fell lower than experts predicted[7], changes in federal oil policies [8], and six pipelines were attacked by a leftist group in Mexico.[9] In October 2007 US light crude rose above $90 for the first time, due to a combination of tensions in eastern Turkey and the reducing strength of the US dollar.[10]

On January 2, 2008, a single trade was made at $100[11], but the price did not stay above $100 until late February.
Oil prices for Brent in US$ and Euro

Oil broke through $110 on March 12, 2008[12], $125 on May 9, 2008[13], $130 on May 21, 2008 [14], $135 on May 22, 2008, $140 on June 26, 2008 and $145 on July 3, 2008[15]. On July 11, 2008, oil prices rose to a new record of $147.27 following concern over recent Iranian missile tests.[16]

However, oil prices declined by more than $20 over the next two weeks, settling around $125 a barrel on July 24, 2008.[17] A strong contributor to this price decline was the drop in demand for oil in the US. Miles driven there in a month were down in March–May 2008 compared to 2007, with the 4% decline in May being the largest drop in history.[18] Oil further dropped down to its lowest price in 3 months, at around $112 a barrel, on August 11, 2008[19], and on September 15, oil price fell below $100 for the first time in seven months. On October 11, oil fell as much as $8.89, or 10.17% to $77.70 per barrel as global equities slide .[20]

Oil traded below $70 on October 16, 2008. On December 21, 2008, oil was trading at $33.87 a barrel, less than one fourth of the peak price reached four months earlier. Prices did not rebound once 2009 started. Instead, after initially climbing above $48, prices descended by mid-February to below $34, hurt by forecasts for further declines in world demand. Through March and April 2009, oil traded at about $40 per barrel. By August 2009, prices returned to $70 a barrel.[21]
[edit] Reasons for trends

The price of oil, like the price of all commodities, is subject to major swings over time, particularly tied to the overall business cycle. When demand for a commodity like oil exceeds production capacity, the price will rise quite sharply because both demand and supply are fairly inelastic in the short run. Users of oil might be shocked by much higher prices, but they have commitments and habits that determine their energy use, and these take time to adjust. On the supply side, especially at the outer edge of existing production capacity, adding new capacity is time-consuming and expensive.

Moreover, the supply side is severely influenced by oligopolistic group of swing producers. Over time, however, both businesses and individuals figure out ways to cut back their oil consumption in response to high prices, and the high prices promote new investment in production and the arrival of new sources in the market, gradually restoring a supply-demand balance. Most commodity prices (such as metals and grain) are subject to similar large swings over time.[citation needed]
[edit] Benchmark pricing
Main article: Benchmark (crude oil)

After the collapse of the OPEC-administered pricing system in 1985, and a short lived experiment with netback pricing, oil-exporting countries adopted a market-linked pricing mechanism.[22] First adopted by PEMEX in 1986, market-linked pricing received wide acceptance and by 1988 became and still is the main method for pricing crude oil in international trade.[22] The current reference, or pricing markers, are Brent, WTI , and Dubai/Oman.[22]
[edit] Market listings
Main article: Commodities markets

Oil is marketed among other products in commodities markets. See above for details. Widely traded oil futures, and related natural gas futures, include:[23]

* Petroleum
o Nymex Crude Future
o Dated Brent Spot
o WTI Cushing Spot
o Nymex Heating Oil Future
o Nymex RBOB Gasoline Future
* Natural gas
o Nymex Henry Hub Future
o Henry Hub Spot
o New York City Gate Spot

Most of the above oil futures have delivery dates in all 12 months of the year.[24]
[edit] Speculation

The surge in oil prices in the past several years has led some experts to argue that at least some of the rise is due to speculation in the futures markets.[25][26] This has led to an investigation, which reached an interim conclusion that speculation was largely not responsible for the rise. Economist James K. Galbraith believes that much of the rise is due to the "Enron loophole" drafted in a rider by former Texas senator Phil Gramm, which allowed energy futures to avoid Commodity Futures Trading Commission oversight. Galbraith cites Masters, a hedge fund manager, who observed that index speculation tied to commodities by pension funds and other investment vehicles rose from $13 billion in 2003 to $250 billion in 2008. Galbraith observed that with Goldman Sachs predicting a rise in the price to $200 and Gazprom $250, suppliers may react to the rise by restricting supply until they can sell their product at a higher price.[27] In 2009, Seismic Micro-Technology conducted a survey of geophysicists and geologists about the future of crude oil. Of the survey participants 80 percent predicted the price for a barrel of oil will rise to be somewhere between $50 and $100 per barrel by June 2010.[28] Another 50 percent saying it will rise even further to $100 to $150 a barrel in the next five years.[28]
[edit] Futures investigation

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced "Multiple Energy Market Initiatives" on May 29, 2008. Part 1 is "Expanded International Surveillance Information for Crude Oil Trading." The CFTC announcement stated it has joined with the United Kingdom Financial Services Authority and ICE Futures Europe in order to expand surveillance and information sharing of various futures contracts.[29] This announcement has received wide coverage in the financial press, with speculation about oil futures price manipulation.[30] [31] [32]

The interim report by the Interagency Task Force, released in July, found that speculation had not caused significant changes in oil prices and that fundamental supply and demand factors provide the best explanation for the crude oil price increases. The report found that the primary reason for the price increases was that the world economy had expanded at its fastest pace in decades, resulting in substantial increases in the demand for oil, while the oil production grew sluggishly, compounded by production shortfalls in oil-exporting countries.

The report stated that as a result of the imbalance and low price elasticity, very large price increases occurred as the market attempted to balance scarce supply against growing demand, particularly in the last three years. The report forecast that this imbalance would persist in the future, leading to continued upward pressure on oil prices, and that large or rapid movements in oil prices are likely to occur even in the absence of activity by speculators. The task force was continuing to analyze commodity markets and intended to issue further findings later in the year.
